From that moment on, and especially in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, the collection was increased. The geological heritage of this institution consists of twenty different collections, divided into three major domains, such as geology, mineralogy and palaeontology, the latter being the most extensive. In fact, the Institut f\u00fcr Geographie und Geologie stores 2.5 million objects and more than 1,000 holotypes.
