The National Museum of Natural Sciences (MNCN) is a historical institution within the CSIC (Spanish National Research Council) and manages an exceptional paleontological heritage. Although the collection of fossils of the lithographic limestones of Montsec is quite scarce (only eight pieces), it includes the holotype of the anur Eodiscoglossus santonjae of the site of La Pedrera de Meià, sold by Lluís Ferrer i Condal to the former Lucas Mallada Institute, at the time when Bermudo Meléndez was its director. The set presents some other interesting specimens, such as a second anur, Monsecobatrachus gaudryi, the fish Microdon egertoti and a coprolit.
