A second institution located in Madrid, the Geomining Institute of Spain (IGME), also stores a collection with a high historical content, which is largely due to private donations that took place during the last century. The Montsec collection located in the IGME comprises about one hundred fossils, most of which refer to the angiosperm Montsechia vidalii . The taxonomic diversity also includes seven insect specimens, ten fish, three decapods and one bird of an indeterminate genus.
